„Born in the 1960s, you don’t necessarily have to be a flower child; I rather chose becoming a golfer. Born on 5th July 1968 I entered the world of golf, my parents took me to the golf court in Viennese Freudenau at an early age. During the 1970s not more than a few hundred people were golfing in Austria.

Being careful by nature, I did not want to depend on golf only. So I studied business administration at the University of Economics and business in Vienna, thinking a job in golf marketing would be suitable back-up insurance. Nevertheless, taking the plunge into professional business still had been a risk – financially. The first years on Challenge Tour and Tour school appeared to elapse slow and unprofitable. My 4th season, 1999, could have been the last of my career – it became the last on Challenge tour instead! Finally I got it – by winning 4 podium medals I was able to secure third place of the final score of the year, gaining a tour card for the European Tour for the first time.

However, 1998 and 1999 still have been my best years. First Sabine and I married, then a year later Constantin was born, even before my first tour card. It’s not always easy for me, flying to “work” over 100.000 air miles and being abroad 35 weeks in the year. My family accompanies me whenever possible. Among the tour pros it’s comradely like in no other kind of sport; with my colleagues you can experience something! All of this accounts for probably having the best job in the world.”

Bernd Wiesberger

I was born in Vienna on 8th October 1985 and I have been living since in Oberwart in south Burgenland.

My parents Mag. Klaus and Claudia Wiesberger carry on a sporting goods store in my hometown and the Pro-Shop in GC Bad Tatzmannsdorf. I am blessed with a brother named Niki, three years younger than me. He (Hcp 4) and my parents (Hcp 8 and 27) are playing golf in GC Bad Tatzmannsdorf.

My education started with elementary school in Oberwart. Afterwards I attended Federal grammar school for 4 years. Eventually I graduated in June 2005 from BHAK (commercial college) Oberwart aged 19.

In January 2006 I started military service, serving my time in HSZ Seebenstein. This Federal Armed Forces’ model of elite sport assisted me with my sporting development. Unlike other sportsmen I did not have to abandon sport for 6 months because I had the opportunity to train during my military service time.

Since January 2005 I am living happily with my girlfriend Tina. Like my parents and my brother she supports me in achieving a high aim: European Tour.
